BUFFALO TWP — Township police will receive pay raises under new five-year pact.

Under the contract, which takes effect Jan. 1, the department’s five full-time officers get 2.25 percent raises each year.

The salaries of the three full-timers who are veteran members of the department will increase from $29.37 an hour to $30.03 in 2017, $30.71 in 2018, $31.40 in 2019, $32.11 in 2020 and $32.83 in 2021.

The two full-time officers added in May earn $20.56 an hour. They will receive the 2.25 percent pay hikes and an additional 10 percent each year until attaining the standard rate.

The township supervisors on Wednesday approved the contract.

The township’s part-time officers’ pay will rise from $15 an hour to $16 an hour next year, then 50 cents in each of the subsequent four years.

The officers belong to the United Steelworkers union.
