Butler Fall Festival brings community together
Main Street in Butler was bustling Saturday with people browsing vendor’s tables, munching on food and treats and checking out classic and newer cars and trucks at the annual Butler Fall Festival
Bands performed in Diamond Park and families enjoyed games and activities for children at the Kids’ Zone in the city parking lot on North Main Street.
Bobbie Zeigler brought her grandchildren, and Shealynn Zeigler brought her baby daughter, and everyone had fun playing in the Kids’ Zone.
The children enjoyed the games and liked being around other children, Bobbie said.
Abby Saviano, of Butler, came with her daughter, as well as her brother, his wife and their two children.
“This is the biggest fair I’ve seen here. It’s a nice day for it too,” Saviano said.
She said the Fall Festival had more activities for children than most other festivals.
“You could spend a day here,” she said.
The festival was scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. Dahn Kilroy, vice president of the festival's board of directors, said prior to the event that vendors for the day included food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, live music, a classic car cruise and the Kids’ Zone.
Precious McCardle, of Butler, brought her four children and came with a friend and her children. She said she comes to all of the city’s festivals.
“I was raised here. I grew up coming to these and my kids are growing up coming to them,” McCardle said.
The children enjoyed getting their faces painted and playing games.
“It’s nice to have this every year,” she said.
Organizers expanded the footprint of this year’s festival to accommodate additional vendors and add the Kids’ Zone and Kids’ Market. Last year’s event was held between Wayne and Jefferson streets. This year, it was held between Wayne and Penn streets, adding two blocks.
