Beaver County teen escapes from Summit Academy Thursday
SUMMIT TWP — A Beaver County teenager who escaped late Thursday night from the Summit Academy juvenile detention facility will be charged in Butler County with escape, authorities said.
Sometime overnight between Thursday and Friday and just a block away, a vehicle was stolen from a home.
State police are investigating both incidents, but they did not immediately know if they are connected.
Daniel Tweedlie, 16, from Beaver Falls, Beaver County, fled Summit Academy on the 800 block of Herman Road around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
About 7:15 a.m. Friday, police got a stolen vehicle report from a home on the 700 block of Herman Road in Summit Township. The owner reportedly awoke to find the white Chevrolet Tahoe missing.
The owner last saw the vehicle Thursday night. The SUV reportedly had a Smith & Wesson handgun in it.
Troopers subsequently issued a be-on-the-lookout advisory to all police departments in the county.
