Grazing conference set for March 22

“The Nature of Grazing” is the theme for the 15th annual Northwest Pennsylvania Grazing Conference planned for March 22. The program will be held at the Zion Church located in Clarion beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Featured speakers are Ray Archuleta, conservation agronomist at the USDA-NRCS East National Technology Center in Greensboro, N.C., and Troy Bishop, a 25-year veteran of grazing systems.

Topics to be covered include “Farming and Ranching in Nature’s Image to Improve Soil Health,” “Purposeful Grazing: Managing With Intentions,” “Improve Your Bottom Line With Better Records” and “Using the Power of Diversity to Improve Soil Function.”

The registration fee of $50 per person includes a full day of workshops, a continental breakfast and hot buffet lunch. Brochures with registration forms are available from the Penn State Extension Office in Butler County. Call 724-287-4761 for more information.

Landowners natural gas seminar

Penn State Cooperative Extension, Butler County Community College and the Butler County Chamber of Commerce will host a natural gas workshop, “Leasing, Legal, and Our Water: Beyond Basics,” for property owners and the community. The event will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Butler County Community College’s Founders Hall.

Speakers will include attorney William White and extension educators Mark Madden and Jon Laughner of the Penn State Extension Marcellus Education Team.

Reservations are required and may be made by calling the Penn State Extension Office in Butler County at 724-287-4761. A $10 fee will be charged at the door to cover program and facility costs.
