Jake asks why I say that Rebecca Allison's religious beliefs, mentioned in her letter to the editor, should be kept personal. I think Jake has misunderstood my intended meaning. When I stated beliefs should be kept personal I do not mean--in any way--that someone's opinion should be silenced, only that personal religious beliefs should not be considered in government policy. What Jake doesn't address is the fact that I have made no qualms about Ms. Allison's personal religious beliefs only the fact that she utilizes them to guide government policies which apply to all people, including ones that do not adhere to her religious views.
