A report in February of this year disclosed that Hershey would shut down a plant in Smith Falls, Ontario furloughing over 500 workers. In May an AP report filed by Marc Levy stated that two more plants would be shut down, one in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and another in Montral laying off 730 workers. The closing of the Canadian plants brings the number of plants Hershey plans to close to six.
