Like the Washington Post's Dr. Charles Krauthammer, whose op-ed appeared in the Butler Eagle, I herald the discovery that skin cells can be transformed into stem cells. But, I disagree with his pronouncement that President Bush "got it right." While these new developments have great potential, I believe that President Bush unduly let his religious beliefs influence government policy in his repeated vetoes of federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. As this field moves forward, it is in spite of President Bush's actions and he deserves none of the glory.
