1:32 p.m. Tuesday — An elderly woman escaped injury when she lost control of her new car on West Diamond Street and crashed into the side of a building housing an vehicle alignment business.Carol A. Sawford, 75, of Butler was eastbound when her 2014 Toyota went off the south side of the road, striking a No Parking sign and the Koeppen Alignment Service building at 301 S. Chestnut St.Sawford was unable to explain how the accident happened, according to a police report, but told officers that her Toyota “was a brand-new car and she wasn't used to it yet.”Tuesday — An unknown thief stole a Nikon camera and two lenses from a Butler Eagle employee's car parked in the 200 block of South Main Street. The Butler Eagle owns the camera and lenses valued at a combined $4,500.Also taken from the car were gym clothes and a bag of bottled water. The theft happened between 11:30 a.m. and 12:20 p.m.

9:49 a.m. Monday — William S. Brookbank, 45, no known address, faces felony and other charges after police said he exchanged stolen merchandise and also shoplifted items from the Ollie's store at Moraine Pointe Plaza.Brookbank is accused of returning $129.97 in previously stolen items for store credit, according to a police report. Additionally, he allegedly stole a jacket and snowman decoration valued at a combined $138.98.He is charged with felony retail theft and misdemeanor counts of theft by deception and receiving stolen property.2:24 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Zachary Rock, 22, of Butler crashed into an embankment on Route 422 between Routes 8 and 68.1:24 p.m. Monday — Cody R. Howard, 22, of Butler was arrested after allegedly huffing a can of air duster. Police said Howard was found passed out in the basement of a home in the 200 block of Bessemer Avenue, where he had showed up uninvited.Howard faces a felony count of trespass and misdemeanor charges of inhaling a toxic-releasing substance and illegal use of certain solvents and noxious substances.3:41 p.m. Sunday — Brothers Justin Gutauskas, 22, of Lyndora and Brandyn Gutauskas, 20, of Slippery Rock are accused of putting their aunt in a headlock during a disturbance at a Randolph Street home. Both men also allegedly pushed the 56-year-old woman, who apparently was not injured. Police cited each brother with harassment.11:58 a.m. Friday — Vehicles driven by Kristopher A. Brow, 41, of Chicora and Jeff Pierce, 45, of Butler collided at Route 356 and North Duffy Road. Police cited Brown for running a red light and not wearing a seat belt.4:32 p.m. Nov. 26 — Daryl Claypoole, 25, of Butler lost control of his sport utility vehicle and struck a guardrail on Route 8 near Comfort Lane. Police cited Claypoole for driving too fast for conditions.

Nov. 27 — One person was arrested for driving under the influence during a roving DUI patrol in the county.In all, 92 vehicles were stopped. Officers also made two arrests for public drunkenness and another one for drugs. Additionally, 25 traffic citations and 47 warnings were issued.Officers, meanwhile, assisted other police on a domestic assault case as well as another DUI arrest and a DUI-related crash. The K-9 officer also assisted on the drug arrest.

Monday — Someone used a cement block to smash a toilet that was left outside a home in the 1500 block of North Main Street in Center Township. The vandalism happened between 11 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.5:58 a.m. Sunday — Peter P. Didik, 24, of West Sunbury was hurt when he lost control of his car and slammed head-on into a tree on Route 308 in Clay Township.Didik, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. He was cited for a lane violation, reckless driving, careless driving and a seat belt violation.7:35 a.m. Friday — An Allegheny County man suffered a minor injury when the car he was driving crashed into a ditch on Route 228 at Brewer Road in Clinton Township. Jerome Vergerio, 51, of Natrona Heights was cited for a lane violation and not wearing a seat belt.2:15 p.m. Nov. 27 — Christopher M. Rusch, 29, of Chicora was caught with suspected drugs at the Butler County Prison. A correctional office found Rusch with a Suboxone strip in his wallet after police took him to the prison on unrelated theft by deception charges.He is charged in the latest case with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.1:05 a.m. Nov. 25 — Eric J. Easley, 19, of Bruin lost control of his sport utility vehicle and struck a tree in the yard of a home on Kaylor Road just east of Walnut Road in Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County. Police said Easley was cited for a lane violation.

5:46 p.m. Monday — A horse was injured when a pickup truck hit the buggy it was hauling in Springfield Township.The crash happened when Cindy L. Bailey, 47, of Volant, Lawrence County, turned her pickup into the path of the horse-drawn carriage at Routes 19 and 208. Jacob E. Hostetler, 26, of New Wilmington, Lawrence County, was driving the buggy.The truck hit the horse head-on, according to a police report. The horse, which was knocked to the ground, suffered moderate injuries; its condition was not known. Neither driver was hurt.Police said Bailey was cited for an unspecified traffic violation.

Sunday — A Taurus .45-caliber pistol was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at a home on Harlansburg Road in Scott Township. The gun was taken between Oct. 26 and Sunday.Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call police at 724-598-2211.
