Armstrong cable

Back in the late 1970s, when I first hooked up to Armstrong cable, I paid $6.95 per month. If I remember correctly, cable at that time was basically just a better antenna than the old- fashioned metal ones that sprouted from rooftops all over the country back then. HBO was the pay channel.

Before long, everyone had to get a cable box in order to receive even the basic channels as well as the new ones Armstrong added to their line-up which in turn, raised our bills. After all, we had so many more channels available and we should be glad to pay for them. From then on, Armstrong has added channels and raised our rates on a regular basis. Whenever any government regulations appear that would limit the raises in rates, we are given more channels and our rates go up because, after all, we have SO many channels at our disposal. I, for one, have never requested any of these new channels and would gladly do without many of them if it would lower our monthly bill. I have always felt that I am being forced to buy something I don't want. Yes, I could go to a dish but there are problems there too. Neither one is perfect and I guess I stay with Armstong rather than a dish out of a sense of "better the known than the unknown". I do, however, wish there was a competitor in the area that could give the consumers a choice and Armstrong a run for it's money. It is long over-due.
