HARRISBURG — The state is offering workshops to help community officials learn about the new statewide earned income tax collection system.

A state law will reduce the number of tax collectors from 560 to 69 by 2012 in the state.

The workshops will be hosted by representatives from the state Department of Community and Economic Development.

Two workshops in Western Pennsylvania include:

• 9 a.m. to noon June 12 at the Holiday Inn in Indiana.

• 6 to 9 p.m. June 17 at the Family Retreat Center in Mars.
