STRATTANVILLE — An autopsy shows a northwestern Pennsylvania firefighter apparently died of natural causes while battling a fire in burning debris at a recently demolished house.

Clarion County Coroner Terry Shaffer says toxicology results are still pending from the autopsy on 28-year-old Ryan Wingard, but it appears he died naturally.

Strattanville Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Bill Stroup says the firefighter complained of a headache before collapsing Monday morning.

Stroup says it was the company's first death in the line of duty in the department's 71 years.

State police are investigating the fire but no charges have been filed.
