8:28 p.m. Sunday — Alicia N. Bures, 27, of Butler faces a pair of criminal charges stemming from an apparent heroin overdose Sunday on Krut Street.Police said they were called to a reported fight at Krut and West Wayne streets. There, they found Bures, who complained of leg pain. She handed her 7-year-old daughter a blue pouch and told the girl to hold it.Moments later, Bures collapsed in the snow due to the suspected drug overdose.Police said they searched the pouch and found 34 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, a spoon with residue, two capped syringes, one uncapped syringe with an exposed needle, a lighter and knife.Bures is charged with child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. She also was cited for a summary charge of public drunkenness.10:58 a.m. Sunday — William J. Pavasco, 30, and Jeffrey C. Shankle, 45, of Cowansville, Armstrong County, were arrested after a fight at Pavasco's home in the 100 block of West North Street. Both men are charged with simple assault.Butler Twp Police8:57 a.m. Feb. 18 — A car driven by Mavrick Goepfert, 24, of Butler slid out of control and collided with another vehicle at Chesapeake Street and Whitestown Road. Richard Kline II, 39, of Butler was the other driver.Feb. 18 — A vandal damaged a soft drink machine at the Jiffy Lube store at the Alameda Plaza. The vandalism occurred over the past few days.
Monday — Police reported that $10,000 in new $100 bills was stolen Feb. 5 or 6 from an unspecified business on the 200 block of South Broad Street. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.Monday — A thief Sunday night or Monday morning broke into several unlocked vehicles in the 500 block of Liberty Street and Memorial Avenue. Stolen was about $3 in change and a bottle of men's body spray.Sunday — A backpack containing miscellaneous items was stolen from a car in an alley in the 400 block of Rainey Avenue. The backpack and items were later recovered in the neighborhood.The break-in happened between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:15 p.m. Sunday.Saturday — Police charged Zachary Surrena, 19, of New Wilmington, Lawrence County, in connection with an altercation about 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 with an employee at the McDonald's restaurant on West Main Street. Surrena is charged with misdemeanor harassment and disorderly conduct.2:48 p.m. Thursday — Stephanie Bowen, 37, of Grove City was arrested on a warrant out of Venango County after she was spotted falling over and stumbling on a sidewalk in the 500 block of Stewart Avenue. The suspect was later turned over to Venango County authorities.Police also cited Bowen for public drunkenness.
Feb, 18 — Karla R. Weirich, 60, of Butler was charged with stealing a vehicle in Center Township last month. Weirich allegedly stole the vehicle, belonging to 82-year-old Phyllis Weirich, from the driveway at a home on Sunbury Fields in Center Township on Jan. 21Karla Weirich is charged with felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property.Feb. 18 — Police charged Joel A. Fobes, 30, and Kimberly Safranek, 25, both of Butler, in connection with a shoplifting case Dec. 16 at the Boscov's store in Clearview Mall in Center Township.Fobes is accused of swiping four pairs of pants. He left the store. Several minutes later, Safranek walked into the store with the same stolen pants.She allegedly returned those pants in exchange for a $140 store gift card. Before leaving the store, police said, she allegedly stole a wallet.Fobes and Safranek are both charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, theft by deception and conspiracy to commit theft by deception.
Monday — Scott M. Campbell, 20, of Harrisville was arrested on charges he had sex with a 15-year-old girl in the borough.The girl told police that she and Campbell had intercourse three times between Dec. 26 and Feb. 1. She said the sex was “completely voluntary,” according to court documents.The defendant also allegedly admitted he and the girl had sex.Campbell was arraigned on three counts each of statutory sex assault, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors, all felonies. He also is charged with three counts of indecent assault, a misdemeanor.Campbell is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.
