Letting the kids sit ten minutes in the school parking lot isn't that big of a deal. My kids are on the bus for an hour in the morning, and they never once complained. Just because school was only canceled two days (so far) this winter, and delayed a few times have nothing to do with it. These back roads that I live on are horrible. So yes the bus drivers do need a little extra time, and I would rather my kids sit for 10 minutes at the school then run along the side walk, get pushed ( or push someone), and get hit by a bus. Some of these bus drivers have been doing their jobs for years, and do punish when they need to. Having them sit on the bus for 10 minutes have nothing to do with the way kids act. The majority of them cause trouble while the bus is moving, because they don't think they are going to get caught. With my driver anyways I know they do get caught.

As far as them eating breakfast at school, I have never had a problem with the kids coming home, and telling me that they didn't have time, because they had to wait on the bus. They enjoy the free time in the morning. So what's the harm in letting them be on the bus a few extra minutes? For me I have no complaints about the buses, the time scheduling, or the drivers.
