A Democratic leader in Western Pennsylvania is calling on the U.S. attorney in Pittsburgh to resign amid reports the prosecutor will run for Congress.

Allegheny County Democratic Party Chair Jim Burn claims there will be conflict of interest if U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan seeks a congressional seat.

Buchanan is considering challenging Democratic Rep. Jason Altmire next year.

Pittsburgh police say they used a secure, group text-messaging service to keep thousands of officers on the same page during last month's Group of 20 economic summit.Lt. Charles Rodriguez says the texting service was provided free by Nixle, a start-up company.The texts were used to keep about 5,700 officers in touch during the summit and, specifically, to respond to security threats. The city has about 900 officers, but brought in thousands more from other jurisdictions to deal with concerns about protesters.Texting was used because it would have been too difficult to coordinate the various radio frequencies used by out of town police.
