I would not just be worried about the teachers in the school, though indeed they should have contacted you. I would be just as concerned about the change in my child's behavior. Obviously, this is not the first report card of the year and they were receiving passing grades prior to this or you wouldn't be surprised. I am also assuming that you were seeing test grades coming home for these classes that were passing grades? If there is a sudden change in behavior, there must be a reason for it. You can't rule out the fact that this is a high school student that is old enough to know better. They know what is required of them, in regards to homework and that they must turn it in. If I were the parent, I would not only be questioning the teacher but also would be asking questions of my child, demanding answers and doling out punishments. They, along with the teacher, did not hold up their end of the bargain. This child is only one more year (judged by your statement about Butler High) away from college, where no one checks in with the parents.
