First off, I would like to state that I cannot believe we are all starting on the "Teacher" discussion again. Secondly, stop throwing "No Child Left Behind" out there. Parents need to take some of the responsibility for their child's educational success. When a student fails, the government doesn't have a law that applies to the parent. No one comes and "fires" you from being that student's mother of father. Teachers, however, are held accountable, and this includes all students. Even the ones with parents who don't care about their child's education (and yes, they do exist)! Maybe someone could refresh my memory, but I'm not quite sure where Angela's child attends school. I do know, that most school districts, use what is referred to as a homework hotline. This information is given to you and your child at the beginning of the school year, with directions on how to access this information. If your child's school has this technology, then it is the parent's responsibility to check the line. If your district does not have this feature, speak up and ask for it. It does take a load of pressure off all parties involved, and the blame game is lessened quite dramatically. Plus, parents and students can quickly receive answers and clarification as to what is expected to be done at home. As stated before, I strongly urge parents to use this feature. Also, I apologize if any words are spelled incorrectly, or if this post contains any grammatical errors, as I know some people love to jump on the opportunity to make snide remarks about spelling and grammar. Yes, I proofread this, however I am also multitasking, if errors bother you that badly, I suggest you find a hobby!
