One thing I would hate would be for a teacher to have an absurd "salery".. lol.
Should we also pay letter carriers for each piece of mail they deliver? Cafeteria workers for each lunch they serve? Bus drivers for each person they drive? I don't think so. They get paid hourly, too.. and $25.00 per hour with great benefits and summers off is a pretty good deal.
