Mark, any educator or parent should understand what type of learners that their child is. The teachers learn how to assess the needs of the classroom and provide the information accordingly. For example, children who are visual learners do better with reading. Auditory learners may be doodling, but they are listening to lecture. Kinesthetic learnings learn by actually doing the task, or learn through feeling. I used to wonder why the teacher would project the notes up on the blackboard, when it seemed like she was only reading it. This provided for the visuals (reading the notes on the screen) and the auditory learners, who listened while taking notes. Teachers are taught different methods of how to explain information.

The same goes true with communicating with your spouse. If you write or send her a card, but she is more auditory, then the card might not mean as much. If she is kinesthetic, she will cherish hugs and touch more.

I have held back on commenting on teachers. I respect teachers. My sons attend pine richland. I get a newletter every friday from the elementary school teacher to review what my son has learned that week. That way my husband and I can work with our sons at home.
