I guess I never made this clear, but I might as well now, in case questions, that do not pertain to me, are thrown my way in the future. I do not teach in Butler County, or in Pennsylvania even. I just grew up there. Just for future reference, if you have a gripe about teachers in P.A. and their pay or whatever else might be bothering you, please don't assume I can help justify any reasonings. Though I can say, that a new teacher wanting to teach in P.A. has about a zero percent chance of obtaining a position, unless they apply in the inner city school districts. I will agree that some educators are over paid for what they actually do, and yes, I think that many people could probably teach a class by using a teachers edition textbook, maybe even a monkey could..who knows. Plus, teachers who have been teaching since my parents were in school won't leave, because quite honestly...they've got it made. Now this is not a fact, or is not meant to lump any one person into a category, however, when I was in school, I noticed it was the teachers who had been there forever who taught from textbooks, and never went out of their way to broaden their teaching strategies. In a society that's advancing immensely in technology, it might be a good idea to start off with an educator who knows how to turn on the computer and use powerpoint. Just a thought?
