I find Jim Shingleton's letter to the edit titled, 'Opt for Nationalization' ridiculous. His solution to the financial crisis caused by government is to give the government even more control over businesses and industries crucial to our day to day life. Government does not solve problems. Government makes things worse than it already is. Forcing all taxpayers to pay their hard earned money to bail out stupid government policies, greedy wallstreet executives, and irresponsible borrowers is repulsing. Mr. Shingleton states that: "To watch the dismantling of our fine Union of states is sickening." I agree, but for different reasons. Handing over control of PRIVATE businesses to the government is called communism. Government control over every aspect of our life from healthcare, utilities, and now credit will only spell disaster. Just look at Europe or other bastions of Marxism and see where you would rather live. I think Ronald Regan said it best when he said, "The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help." I certainly don't trust the government one bit and do not want them invading my pocketbook and privacy any more than they already have.
