Police say drugs found in purse

Deianera McEathron

A Lyndora woman landed behind bars after Butler police say they found more than 200 stamp bags of suspected heroin, prescription pills and other contraband in her purse while investigating an alleged drugged driving crash Monday afternoon.

There also was $1,561 in currency in Deianera E. McEathron's purse. Police said she acknowledged using and selling heroin.

District Judge Lewis Stougthon arraigned McEathron, 25, on two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. She also is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bond following arraignment.

Patrolman Andrew Niederlander said police were called about 3 p.m. Monday for a three-vehicle wreck at Hansen Avenue and Pillow Street. It was later determined that McEathron's car rear-ended another vehicle stopped at a red light.

The vehicle that was hit from behind, police said, then struck another vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Police suspected the defendant was impaired, and she subsequently failed field sobriety tests. She refused to submit to a blood test

McEathron was taken to the station for processing, and police searched her purse. Seized, according to charging documents, were 222 glassine bags of suspected heroin and 16 alprazolam pills that were packaged in three small plastic bags.

The defendant did not have a prescription for alprazolam, which is the generic name for Xanax, a drug that is commonly used to treat anxiety disorders.

Also in the purse, police said, were suspected drug-packaging materials, four hypodermic needles, a metal spoon with residue, a glass smoking pipe, empty stamp bags and two cell phones.

“McEathron admitted to using heroin,” Niederlander said in his affidavit, “and admitted to selling heroin to support her habit.”

Online court records did not indicate if she has an attorney.
