Butler County's great daily newspaper

Jay / Priorities

I know what you mean. They show people on tv whining about loosing their houses, then they say they took a second mortgage to pay off credit cards, then consolidated that again with their first mortgage at an adjustable rate - which then went up to 18% when they fell behind, doubling their payment.

Should I feel sorry for this stupid person? If the guy had said he never used credit cards in his life, and had a medical condition or lost his job, then yes, I would feel sorry for him. But this credit card consolidation thing is just plain stupidity, and I'm sorry, but I don't think stupidity should be rewarded.

My interest rate on my house is 4.65% fixed. I got that 5 years ago by not owing everyone and their brother and not using credit cards to their max. How can anybody be so stupid as to get an adjustable rate, when rates have been so low for so many years?

It just boggles the mind!
