Butler PoliceMonday — Earl W. Sullivan Sr., 35, of Butler was charged with shoplifting $21 in merchandise last month at the Kmart store at Pullman Square.The store’s video surveillance system Dec. 18 allegedly caught the suspect taking CO2 cartridges and a container of BBs, which he put in his pockets before paying for BB gun targets, according to court documents.Sullivan allegedly left the store without paying for the CO2 cartridges or BBs.Photographs from the video were placed on the Butler Police Facebook page, which led to the suspect’s identification. Sullivan later admitted to the theft during a police interview, documents said.He is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.
Butler Twp PoliceWednesday — Police charged Donald J. Campbell, 32, and Tanni K. Milligan, 24, both of Butler with possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from a 1:26 a.m. Dec. 27 traffic stop on Route 8 south.Campbell also is charged with driving with a suspended license-DUI related, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without insurance.In an unrelated case, police on Tuesday obtained an arrest warrant for Milligan in connection with a vehicle break-in at the Regal Cinema parking lot at Moraine Pointe Plaza.Police said unspecified merchandise was taken from the vehicle Sunday. Milligan about 90 minutes after the alleged theft returned the merchandise to the Kohl’s store at Butler Crossing for a refund.She is charged with receiving stolen property.10:23 p.m. Monday — Gerry P. Foster, 57, of Prospect landed in trouble with the law after allegedly hitting another man at the Giant Eagle store at Moraine Pointe Plaza. Police cited Foster for disorderly conduct and harassment.Friday — Betty Jo McGinnis, 38, was caught with suspected drug contraband after police were called to her Lyndora home for a reported domestic incident. Officers allegedly found “numerous items” of drug paraphernalia laying about the house. She is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Grove City PoliceTuesday — An unknown thief stole two pairs of prescription sunglasses valued at $300 each from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of West Poplar Street. The theft happened between noon Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.7:40 p.m. Monday — Derrick J. Hetrick, 20, of Grove City was nabbed on an arrest warrant out of Butler County. Hetrick was wanted by Slippery Rock police on a charge of open lewdness stemming from an incident Sept. 16He was arraigned on the misdemeanor charge and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.4:49 p.m. Saturday — Three teenagers were caught trespassing at the Cooper Industrial Commons on Lincoln Avenue. The out-of-county youths, ages 16 and 17, are charged with defiant trespass.
State Police, Butler1 p.m. Tuesday — Bowen G. Bly, 23, of Parker was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing his vehicle at Main and Kittanning streets in Chicora. A police report also noted Bly was found with suspected drug paraphernalia. Police said their investigation continues.Monday — Chad M. Undercuffler, 23, of Fenelton was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from a suspected theft-related case last month.Undercuffler allegedly used a credit card belonging to a Butler man with whom he was staying. Police said he used the card to make unauthorized purchases totaling $2,023.53 at several stores, including Walmart and Dollar General at Butler Commons in Butler Township.During an interview with police, according to court documents, Undercuffler admitted he bought “large dollar amounts of gift cards” among other items with the victim’s credit card.“He bought (the gift cards) so that he could trade them in for cash to obtain heroin, documents said.Police said when the suspect was picked up on other warrants Dec. 13 in the 200 block of East Brady Street in Butler, he was found with 12 hypodermic needles, a glass smoking pipe and other suspected drug contraband.Undercuffler is charged with a felony count of receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
State Police, Kittanning12:21 p.m. Wednesday — An unknown thief used a 45-year-old Karns City woman’s bank debit card to make $210 in purchases at the Sheetz store in Ephrata. Seventeen minutes later, the suspect unsuccessfully tried to use the same card to make $144 in purchases at the Turkey Hill gas station in Brownstown.The alleged crimes apparently were caught on the stores’ video surveillance systems. Police said they are reviewing in hopes of identifying the thief.8:15 a.m. Saturday — A 17-year-old Butler girl was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422 in East Franklin. Police did not identify the girl, who was found with suspected drug paraphernalia.
State Police, MercerSaturday — Several long guns were stolen in a burglary at a mobile home on Warren Road in Pine Township, Mercer County. Police said the unknown burglar forced in the front door of the unoccupied home and broke into the gun safe in one of the bedrooms.The burglary happened between Dec. 29 and Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to call 724-662-6162.
State Police, New CastleDec. 18 — Someone damaged four mailboxes — two on Heinz Camp Road and two on Frew Mill Road — in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, and two other mailboxes on Armstrong Road in neighboring Perry Township. The vandalism happened between noon and 7 p.m.
