PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher is promising not to wander too far during Saturday's home playoff game against the New York Jets.

Cowher often strays far from the sideline, sometimes venturing 10 to 15 yards onto the field to yell at officials or talk to players.

But a costly penalty on Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer for being on the field during Saturday's 20-17 overtime loss to the Jets figures to keep Cowher from abandoning the bench area.

"You shouldn't be on the field, but who am I to be talking?" Cowher said Monday. "I certainly took note of that. I'm not going to do anything to jeopardize our team. I've been warned a few times, and I'll definitely make sure it doesn't happen."
