HARRISBURG — Gov.-elect Tom Corbett is appointing lawyers as Pennsylvania’s next civil-defense chief and inspector general.

Corbett said Friday he plans to appoint 62-year-old Glenn Cannon of Pittsburgh as director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.

Cannon previously worked as Pittsburgh’s public safety director, chief operating officer of Allegheny County and an administrator in the federal Homeland Security Department. He is currently a consultant to a law firm in Pittsburgh.

Corbett also says he’ll appoint 45-year-old Kenya Mann Faulkner as state inspector general. She works for a Philadelphia law firm and has experience as a federal and state prosecutor.

Erik Arneson, a spokesman for the Senate Republicans, says neither appointment requires confirmation.
