Burglary call leads police to 2 men charged in drug case

Butler police seized suspected heroin, crack cocaine and Suboxone early Sunday morning while answering a call for a possible burglary on Roosevelt Boulevard.

Arrested in the investigation were Saleem Boyd, 38, of Pittsburgh and Joshua D. Hollobaugh, 36, of Worthington, Armstrong County.

The defendants are in Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail each.

Police said they got a call about 3:30 a.m. from a man living at a home on the 200 block of Roosevelt Boulevard. He believed that two men were “casing” his house.

He described the suspects. Moments later, the resident called back to advise authorities that the two men had left in a vehicle.

An officer spotted a car traveling on Roosevelt Boulevard near Pepperland Boulevard. Inside, according to court documents, were two men who matched the caller's description.

Police identified Hollobaugh as the driver and Boyd as the front-seat passenger. On the floor of Boyd's seat, documents said, appeared to be drug packaging materials.

Both men were taken to the station. A search of Boyd turned up 28 stamp bags of suspected heroin and two plastic bags containing a combined 8.72 grams of suspected crack, police said.

He also had 13 strips of Suboxone, which is a narcotic-based drug prescribed to treat addiction to heroin and powerful painkillers such as oxycodone.

Police later that morning got a search warrant for the defendants' car. Under the center console panel, documents said, were 10 stamp bags of suspected heroin.The search also turned up a drug kit under the driver's seat. In the kit, police said, were several used hypodermic needles, a crack pipe and Chore Boy copper scrubber, which is commonly used to filter drug-smoking pipes.Inside a cigarette pack were several empty stamp bags.Additionally, a scale and small amount of suspected crack were found on the car's passenger side.Boyd is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and loitering and prowling at night.Hollobaugh is charged with conspiracy to commit the crime of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession.
