Butler County's great daily newspaper

I don't understand why there is so much racism. Unless we can account for every single person in our family tree and that their national origin is really where they said they were from, when we say racist things about people we very well could be saying it about ourselves and our own families. Many people changed their names when arriving to the united states and some created stories to fit in.

I may just be kind of stupid when it comes to this but I think categorizing people by skin color is very confusing. I know you all are going to laugh at me for this but when I first saw Obama it didn't register in my mind that he was black. His coloring reminded me of Roberto Clemente. My son's friend from Pakistan considers himself black but I consider him white. I'm not sure that the rule is . My friend who is directly from Africa has skin lighter than some European people. I think dividing people by skin color is so undefined. It doesn't seem to really serve a purpose.

I really enjoy having diverse friends and learning about traditions other than my own. One of the perks is tasting some really good food. Racist people really miss out.

I have no idea if anyone in this forum is truly racist or not because sometimes it's hard to tell what people really mean in posts. Sometimes we read into postings ideas that were not intended but if anyone is racist please search your heart a little and try getting to know people who are different than you. Sometimes people have bad experiences and judge others on one bad experience. If that is the case, it may be hard but forgiving and moving forward is the healthiest thing to do for yourself. When we forgive we empower ourselves because it puts us back in control. Hating just causes undue stress.
