First Niagara Bank in Cranberry Twp. robbed
CRANBERRY TWP — The FBI has taken the lead from the township police in investigating the robbery Wednesday afternoon of the First Niagara Bank in the Cranberry Mall, according to Jeffrey Schueler, township director of public safety.
While the FBI has not yet issued any information about the robbery, a neighbor of the bank branch said a customer told her that several police cars were there Wednesday.
Anna Drake, the manager of the Wendy’s restaurant next door to First Niagara, said she didn’t hear any commotion or sirens Wednesday afternoon.
She said she found out about the situation about 3:30 p.m., when a customer talked about several police cars being at the bank.
Schueler said today that the FBI plans to issue a statement, but he did not know when.
The FBI in Pittsburgh did not return calls about the robbery.
