Truck overturns in 2-vehicle accident
CRANBERRY TWP — A two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Rochester Road resulted in a rollover and minor injuries, which were treated at the scene.
The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Rochester Road and Commerce Park Drive after the driver of a pickup truck turning left on Commerce was waved through by oncoming traffic.
The truck overturned when trying to avoid an unseen car that was eastbound in the right lane of Rochester, according to Lt. Chuck Mascellino of the Cranberry Township Police Department.
Mascellino said that's a specific concern in high-traffic areas.
“If you're on a multilane road, do not motion people to do that,” Mascellino said. “You don't know if someone is coming.”
The drivers of both vehicles were treated at the scene and released. The truck's airbags deployed, and both vehicles needed to be towed.
Traffic was temporarily shut down on Rochester Road in the area of Thomson Park Drive.
Cranberry fire, police and EMS responded to the scene.
