SRHS sells naming rights to stadium

SLIPPERY ROCK — Troy-Alan Chevrolet Buick GMC, a car dealership in Slippery Rock, has acquired the naming rights to the Slippery Rock High School athletic stadium.

The athletic complex opened in 2014. Beginning with the 2020-21 school year, it will be known as Troy-Alan Chevrolet Buick GMC Stadium.

The agreement will last 10 years and amounts to a $50,000 gain in funds for athletic programs in the Slippery Rock Area School District. The funding will come in a $5,000 annual increment over the next decade.

SR grad Campbell aids GCC hoop win

MEADVILLE — Slippery Rock High School graduate Sedona Campbell scored 10 points Friday in helping the Grove City College women's basketball team to an 80-72 victory over Hiram in the first day of the Greg Richards Memorial Classic at Allegheny College.

SRU women's soccer in PSAC title game

SLIPPERY ROCK — Madison Johnson scored the winning goal 81 seconds into overtime Friday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium, lifting the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over East Stroudsburg in the PSAC semifinals.

The Rock (17-3) tied the program record for wins in a season. No. 23 East Stroudsburg fell to 14-6.

SRU will face Edinboro for the PSAC title at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
