BlueSox suffer 2-1 setback
Three Dupage (IL) pitchers limited the Butler BlueSox to just one run on three hits as the host Dragons managed a 2-1 Prospect League victory Thursday night.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the seventh inning, Butler's Adam Jury walked, moved to third base on Max Vogel's double and scored on a Dupage error.
But the Dragons scored the deciding run in the eighth when Jomel Torres drew a bases-loaded walk off Butler starter and losing pitcher Tim Giel.
Though he pitched eight innings and allowed just two runs on three hits, Giel walked six and did not strike out a batter.
Brian de la Torriente started for the Dragons (3-6) and was charged with Butler's lone run.
John Boyle earned the win after throwing 1 1/3 innings of relief.
Ryan Camp pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.
The BlueSox (6-7) travel to DeKalb County (IL) today.
