Portersville falls in finals
Josh Aikens scored 21 points and recorded 10 rebounds, but Portersville Christian School suffered an 80-53 loss to Grace & Truth of Rochester, N.Y., in the Christian High School National Invitational Basketball Tournament in Erie over the weekend.
Justin McCandless added six assists for PCS.
Tony DiGuadi scored 24 points and Sean Marshall added 18 for Grace & Truth.
Portersville Christian won four games to reach the championship contest:
PCS 70, Troy Christian Academy of Garrettsville, Ohio 54 -
Aikens scored 23 points and had eight rebounds, Justin McCandless had 19 points and five assists, and Jesse Hogan had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
PCS 62, Kankakee Trinity Academy (Ill.) 51 -
McCandless had 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Hogan added 10 points, 12 rebounds and five assists while Christian Manz had 10 points.
PCS 70, First Assembly Christian Academy of Erie 64 -
Aikens had 24 points and 11 rebounds with McCandless contributing 20 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Hogan had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
PCS 79, Tri-State Christian Academy of Burgettstown 33 -
McCandless had 20 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Aikens had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Manz added 12 points while Aaron Kniess had 10 points and four steals.
