Butler' Evans 11th in 500 free
Butler's Molly Evans placed 11th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5 minutes, 3.02 seconds to lead the Butler County contingent at the PIAA Class AAA Championships Thursday at Bucknell University in Lewisburg.
The Seneca Valley girls team placed 12th overall with 57 points while Butler tied for 38th place with 12 points. Parkland won the girls title with 246 points followed by Bethel Park (181).
Wednesday's Results
Elyse Dobrick, Kelly Connolly and Rose Snyder helped the Seneca Valley girls swimming team to a pair of top-eight finishes.
The trio teamed with Lauren Bezier to place sixth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.85.
In the 200 freestyle relay, Emily Wolfarth joined the three for an eighth-place finish with a time of 1:39.54 in the finals.
Seneca Valley's Diana Rocco placed 10th in the girls' 1-meter diving with 345.50 points and Butler's Jessica Schnur was 11th with 337.0 points.
Dobrick also finished 15th overall in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.65 in the B-final. Snyder was 20th in the 200 freestyle (1:58.36) and Connolly 28th in the 50 free (25.09).
Evans was 22nd in the 200 individual with a time of 2:13.43.
In the boys events, Seneca Valley's Chris Baker tied for 17th in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.98 and was 22nd in the 100 butterfly (54.08).
Butler's Matt Galante was 26th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:47.69.
Class AAChampionships
The Class AA championships, which features swimmers and divers from Mars, Freeport and Knoch, will take place today and Saturday.
