Sophia C. Clanton, 91, of Middlesex Township, formerly of Kennett Square in Chester County, died Friday morning, at Worthington at Adams.

Born in West Chester, May 10, 1915, she was the daughter of Merle and Birdie Turner.

She was a homemaker and also raised Labrador retrievers.

Mrs. Clanton had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown.

Surviving are two sons, Clarence W. Clanton Jr. and his wife, Mary Kay, of Middlesex Township and James N. Clanton of Manheim, Lancaster County; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Clanton Sr., who died May 1, 1984. As the last surviving member of her family, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
