Connoquenessing Twp. man accused of rape
BUTLER TWP — A Connoquenessing Township man is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl he plied with alcohol in December at his then Lyndora home.
Accompanied by his attorney, Luke A. Blackham, 23, on Thursday turned himself in to the Butler Township police at the office of District Judge Kevin O’Donnell, who arraigned him on a list of charges, five of them felonies.
Blackham was placed in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail following arraignment.
Police spoke to the girl Dec. 5 at Butler Memorial Hospital, where she went about 16 hours after the alleged assault and reported what happened.
The hospital collected a rape kit and officers interviewed the teen, who recounted how she showed up about 11 p.m. Dec. 4 at Blackham’s home on Randolph Street, believing there was to be a get-together of people, court documents said.
He provided her with alcohol and continued to pressure her to drink. But no one else showed up that night, she recounted.
The girl admitted being “out of it” from consuming alcohol. Due to the teen’s condition, police said, Blackham invited her to lay down on his bed. He too laid down and allegedly fondled her.
According to the girl, she told Blackham to “stop” several times but he ended up raping her.
Police charged Blackham after a DNA analysis of the evidence collected.
O’Donnell arraigned Blackham on felony charges of rape, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, assault, aggravated indecent assault by forcible compulsion and corruption of minors.
Additionally, he is charged with indecent assault without consent, indecent assault by forcible compulsion and furnishing alcohol to a minor. A preliminary hearing is set for April 28. Blackham’s attorney, Joseph Kecskemethy, declined to comment Thursday.
