Howard D. Snyder Jr., 80, of Fairview Township, formerly of Grove City, died at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday at the Chicora Medical Center after an illness.

Born in Tyrone, Blair County, Nov. 12, 1926, he was the son of Howard D. Sr. and Mary Miller Snyder.

He retired from the Peerless Co. wallpaper and paint stores, where he was a store manager in many locations.

Mr. Snyder was a Protestant.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and belonged to the VFW Post 519, the American Legion Post 220 and the Eagles, all of Grove City.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Sandra Chapman of Olean, N.Y.; a brother, E. Eugene Snyder of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Mazie Eleanor Seybert Snyder, whom he married June 3, 1962, died Nov. 5, 1998. He also was preceded in death by two sisters.
