Police mum on shooting
SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — State police are investigating an attempted homicide shortly after midnight Sunday at an apartment complex near the Slippery Rock University campus.
Police, however, are releasing few details about the shooting that happened outside The Grove apartments on Harmony Road.
Investigators said three males about 12:30 a.m. got out of a vehicle and fired several rounds from at least two handguns at a car that was entering the off-campus apartment complex for SRU students.
No injuries were reported, according to a police news release issued about six hours after the shooting. The release said police have not identified the suspects or the victims.
An officer in the crime unit said he had no other information available this morning.
The news release described the suspects only as three black males. There was no description about their vehicle.
Police also apparently have little information about the alleged victims, who were in a gray Pontiac Grand Prix.
Investigators acknowledged that police did not immediately identify the victims. The news release did not indicate if police know how many people were in the Grand Prix.
A man who identified himself as a community assistant at The Grove told the Butler Eagle this morning that he had no details about the shooting.
“We are aware of the incident that happened,” the man said, “and we are cooperating with police.”
