Butler man charged with repeatedly raping child over 6 year period

Assaults started when both were juveniles

A Butler man has been charged with raping and sexually assaulting a girl numerous times between 2019 and 2025, beginning when she was 9 and he also was a juvenile.

Joshua James Driskell, 23, was arrested Thursday on felony charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors; and a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure.

He is being held in Butler county Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 28 before District Judge William Fullerton.

The girl told police Driskell raped her and sexually abused her in several different rooms in three different homes in Butler, a home in Herman and a shed outside of the home in Herman, according to an affidavit in the case.

She provided with police with an approximate numbers of times the incidents took place. During one summer, she said the abuse occurred consistently every other day and continued for months, according to the affidavit.

When the most recent assault took place, she told police she was 14 years old and Driskell was 20, according to the affidavit.

Police said the girl was interviewed three times by different people and all three interviews corroborated much of what she said during a forensic interview.

Police added DNA evidence was collected and sent to the state police crime lab in Greensburg for analysis.
