VANDERGRIFT — A state police fire marshal says a fire that badly damaged a family owned service station and towing business was intentionally set.

The fire was reported about 1:40 a.m. Sunday at Kochka's Towing and Car Care Center.

Investigators say the fire was put out before it reached the gasoline pumps at the Citgo station in Vandergrift. But the fire did cause about $600,000 damage to a business.

PHILADELPHIA — Police are investigating the accidental discharge of a gun inside a flight attendant's handbag at Philadelphia International Airport.Transportation Security Administration officers noticed the gun when the attendant put her handbag on the X-ray machine as she went through a routine security check around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. It went off and police were notified.Republic Airlines spokeswoman Liz Landau identified the flight attendant as one of Republic's employees. It operates the US Airways Express flights out of Philadelphia.
