Butler PoliceMonday — Police obtained a felony arrest warrant for Jolena E. Harbison, 37, of Parker in connection with a shoplifting incident last month at a convenience store on Pillow Street. She is accused of stealing candy and drinks March 18 at the 7-Eleven.Store surveillance video, according to court documents, helped identify Harbison, who has three prior shoplifting convictions. She is charged with a felony count of retail theft.12:49 a.m. Saturday — Shawn C. Ferrer, 40, of Penn Township was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Pillow and Ball Park streets. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which he refused.Police charged Ferrer with DUI and a stop sign violation.
Butler Twp. PoliceWednesday — Orlando Palacios, 27, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle wreck at 2:26 a.m. March 14. Palacios lost control of his car and crossed the road, hitting an embankment, two signs and a mailbox in the 200 block of Evans City Road.A police report noted that officers were on the scene for nearly an hour after the crash.In addition to driving under the influence, Palacios is charged with driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, reckless driving, hit-and-run and failing to immediately notify police of an accident.12:04 p.m. Tuesday — Daniel W. Augustine, 41, of Swissvale, Allegheny County, was caught allegedly shoplifting $16 worth of merchandise at the Moraine Pointe Plaza Giant Eagle store. He is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.
State Police, Butler7:30 p.m. Tuesday — A Westmoreland County man was caught with drug contraband at the Butler County Prison where he was taken after police picked him up on an arrest warrant in a 2014 felony theft case.Police said they searched the suspect, Zachary J. Ebbitt, 31, of Irwin, and found an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin in his wallet. He was arraigned on a charge of possession of drug paraphernaliaAdditionally, he was arraigned on charges of theft and access device fraud, both felonies, in connection with the alleged July 2014 crime in Muddy Creek Township.Ebbitt was placed in the prison on $15,000 bail in both cases.8:30 a.m. Tuesday — Brian F. Scotece, 36, of Butler was hurt when his car rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. The crash happened when the other driver, Jeffrey A. Kennedy, 53, was stopped and waiting to turn.Scotece, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered unknown injuries. Police cited him for following too closely to another vehicle.8 a.m. Sunday — A 58-year-old woman reported the theft of prescription medication from Saint James Street in Connoquenessing Township. A police report said the investigation continues but did not indicate if there are any suspects.
State Police, Mercer5 p.m. Wednesday — A Grove City man was arrested after he tried to swipe a submarine sandwich at the County Market off Route 58 in Pine Township, Mercer County.A store employee stopped the suspect, 23-year-old Codey A. Holtman, and held him until police got there. He initially gave police a bogus name before he identified himself. It turned out, according to a police report, that Holtman was wanted on two warrants.Police said he faces charges of retail theft and false identification to law enforcement authorities. He was later placed in the Mercer County Jail on the warrants.
