Richard Fudoli had jammed with the coolest cats in the Chicago jazz scene and played alongside world-renowned acts.

But most people would not have suspected it as they saw the unassuming musician playing his flute and leaning against the stone pillars of Calvary Cemetery on top of North Main Street in Butler.

In September 2009, Fudoli explained that he made it to the cemetery a few days a week while the weather was good, and he occasionally strolled with mourners and visitors, playing along the walk.

"It's purely about the art. I'm not looking for recognition. It just seemed to me a nice place to play and close to my home," Fudoli said in September 2009. "People know I'm up there for a reason. They hear it in the air. It's a gift, and I'm trying to give it back."
