SR hotel construction continues
SLIPPERY ROCK — Although it has been in the planning phase for five to six years, the Marriot Fairfield Inn and Suites is expected to be done by June 2011, according to Mayor Kenneth Harris.
The ground was originally broken in 2007, but the project was delayed because of problems relating to permits and inspections. Construction of the above ground portion of the building began this June. Currently, two stairwells and an elevator tower are completed.
The hotel will have 75 rooms.
Harris said he thinks the hotel's proximity to the borough will help increase business the area.
"I think it will be a great community asset. The nearest facility that's anything like this is in Grove City," Harris said Tuesday night.
