Max R. Bishop, 82, of Beaver Falls died Wednesday in the Ellwood City Hospital emergency room.

Born Aug. 15, 1925, in Elyria, Ohio, he was the son of Jesse James and Nina Mae Castle Bishop.

Before his retirement, he was employed at the former Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products as a machinist. He had also been employed for 13 years at the Rheem Manufacturing in Monaca.

Mr. Bishop was a World War II veteran, having served in the Navy Seabees, and was stationed in the South Pacific Theater. He had been deployed at Midway and Pearl Harbor.

He was a lifetime member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, a lifetime member of the NRA and the Koppel-Big Beaver Sportsman Club. He was an avid hunter.

He also was a collector of old bottles and insulators.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah L. Booth Bishop; two sons, Max D. Sr. and his wife Diane Bishop of Evans City and Jeffrey Todd Bishop of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Cindy L. and David Furnival of Chippewa Township, Susan and Rayne Anderson of Charlotte, N.C., and Barbara and Al Christian of Akron, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Robert, Milton, and Harry Bishop; and two sisters, Treva McCullough and Lois Bishop.

<B>Bishop</B> — There will be no public visitation.A memorial service for Max R. Bishop, who died Wednesday Sept. 12, 2007, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the <B>Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home</B>, 3801 4th Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, with his grandson, the Rev. Andrew Christian, officiating. Private burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington County.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 100 W.
