AVALON — A Pittsburgh-area restaurant has stopped calling one flavor of its hot chicken wings "Black-on-Black Crime" after customers complained the name carried a negative racial connotation.

Matt Cercone, the owner of Big Shot Bob's House of Wings in nearby Avalon, said he didn't mean any offense by putting the name on his online menu.

Cercone, who is white, said a customer, who happens to be black, came up with the name as a way to refer to the dark barbecue sauce that covers the wings and the Black Magic seasoning the chicken is cooked in.

"If I had any idea this would happen, believe me, it wouldn't have gotten on our menu," Cercone told the station Wednesday. "We've been getting threatening phone calls here, and there are people saying we're going to go out of business."
