Police file pot charges
An arrest warrant has been issued for a Clinton Township man who allegedly grew marijuana in his family's home.
State police filed charges Monday against Donald W. Criley III, 34, including one felony count of manufacturing with intent to sell and two misdemeanor drug charges.
According to charging documents, police on Oct. 15 visited Criley's home on Brewer Road after they received information about Criley's children “smelling like marijuana” when they were at school.
“Upon arrival at the residence, I could immediately smell a strong odor of raw marijuana emanating from the residence,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.
According to documents, when police knocked on the door, Criley answered, and he admitted to having marijuana in the home. Police said Criley gave them written permission to search the home.
The documents said police found three plastic containers filled with marijuana, a drying rack with eight stems of marijuana attached, 14 zip-close bags filled with marijuana, a digital scale, five smoking pipes and a bottle of neem oil, which is used for plant growth.
Without Criley in custody, court procedures await his preliminary arraignment, which will be before District Judge Sue Haggerty.
