I have witnessed the most beautiful transformation.

Everything we've gone through made sense, there was validation.

You began as a ship lost at sea,

Weathering the storms life threw your way.

Throughout your journey the waves and wind battered your vessel.

But at last the clouds parted, the sun shone and you found safe harbor.

I have witnessed the most beautiful transformation.

A sudden change from night to day without any indication.

You once were someone who filled me with fear,

Someone I never wanted to see or hear,

But you became the Dad I've held so dear,

Always bringing a smile while drying a tear.

I witnessed an empty shell, a lost soul,

Become a person full of life, so kind and gentle.

You became such a beautiful person.

I am so grateful that I was able to play a role.

I was able to see you change and grow.

I just wish that you hadn't had to go,

So that I could have seen you continue to glow.

I love you and I miss you; that will never cease.

So until we meet again, Dad, God grant you eternal peace.
