The Butler equestrian team was one of nine squads that competed in a hunt-seat horse show at The Grier School in Tyrone, Pa., Saturday.

Butler sophomore Miranda Stoner placed first in the JV Beginner Flat class. She now is qualified for the Zone 2 Finals in Alfred, N.Y., March 27 along with senior Katherine Holupka.

Eighth-grader Carissa Chilcott placed third in the Future Novice Over Fences. Jamie Mager, seventh grade, placed fifth in the same class. Shannon Stovar, seventh grade, placed sixth in the Future Novice Flat class.

Butler had two western horse shows Sunday, also hosted by The Grier School. Sophomore Taylor Garvin placed second in the Varsity Intermediate Horsemanship class during the morning show. She was fourth in the Varsity Intermediate Horsemanship class during the afternoon show and is now qualified for Zone 2 Finals in Alfred, N.Y., on March 28.

Chilcott placed first in Future Novice Horsemanship during the morning show and second in the afternoon show. She now has 31 points in Future Novice Horsemanship and is the leading rider in Future Novice Horsemanship the zone.

She also will represent Butler at the Zone 2 Finals in western as an individual rider and she will ride for her team. As a one-person team, she has lead the Butler equestrian middle school western team to 24 team points.
