Sheldine Link

Sheldine Young Link, 88, of Butler received her wings and went home to be with her Lord, Friday morning, Dec. 21,2007. During a lengthy illness, she had been cared for in her home by her family and the support of a loving hospice staff.

Born Oct. 1, 1919, in Clay Township, she was the daughter of the late Sheldon Smyley Young and the late Anna McAnallen Young.

She was a lifelong member of North Main Street Church of God where she had taught Sunday school classes and had been an active member of the Women's Missionary Society. It is now referred to as Women of the Church of God "WCG."

She also was a member of the nurses alumni of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Link was a graduate of Butler High School and attended Anderson University, Anderson, Indiana, for two years. She graduated from Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and worked at the hospital doing private duty nursing. She also had worked at Baptist Hospital in Charlotte, N. C., and was the nurse at the Pullman Standard Car Co. in the 1950s and early 1960s.

Mrs. Link enjoyed writing short stories and had been encouraged by teachers to pursue this talent. She also enjoyed baking cookies and hosting picnics and parties at her home. Mrs. Link was loved deeply by both her immediate family and extended family and friends.

Mrs. Link is survived by two sons, John Randal Link and his fiancé, Paula Lazano, of Kississimee, Fla., and Timothy Lowell Link and his wife, Laura, of Butler; a granddaughter, Shelly Joylyn Link of Butler; a sister, Ruth Lepley and her husband, Robert, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Link was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenneth Link, who passed away in August 1980 and her son, David Sheldon Link, who died April 22, 1962, and a daughter-in-law, Cindi Trancik Link, as well as, one brother and four sisters.

<B>LINK</B>— Friends of Sheldine Young Link will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at North Main Street Church Of God with the Rev.
