Clarence Robert Book, 88, of Slippery Rock died at 10:53 a.m. Friday at the Grove City Medical Center.

He was born May 2, 1919, in Criders Corners to Floyd Book and Alice Myers.

Mr. Book was retired from the Laurel School District transportation department. He had been the proprietor of Books Ashland and was the founder of Book's Market, both of Harlansburg.

He was a WorldWar II Army veteran.

He was a member of the Liberty Grange, the Scott Township Fire Department and the Harlansburg Presbyterian Church where he was a trustee and elder.

Surviving are his wife, Marian E. McConnell Book, who he marriedOct. 12, 1948; two daughters, Francette Book of West Pittsburgh and Anita and her husband, Harold "Hap," Parker of Slippery Rock; five sons and three daughters-in-law, John and Leah Bok, Donald Book and Douglas and Sandy Book, all of Slippery Rock, Gary and Judy Book of Portersville, and Allen Book of New Castle; a brother, Paul and his wife, Ada, Book of Boyers; two sisters, June Wimer of Portersville and Grace and her husband, Fred, Sharrar of Evans City; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold "Hap" and William "Bill."

<B>BOOK</B> — Friends of Clarence Robert Book, who died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>SMITH FUNERAL HOME</B>, 421 NewCastle St., SlipperyRock, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Monica Hamilton, pastor of the Harlansburg Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be at the Unity Baptist Cemetery in Harlansburg.
