SV presents big band dance

JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley Big Band Dance is set for 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Seneca Valley Intermediate High School.

The evening will feature dance instruction from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and open ballroom and swing dancing from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Music will be provided by the Jim Cunningham Orchestra and the SV Jazz Ensembles I and II.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students.

Gallery plans shadowcast

The Art Center’s Underground Gallery will present a shadowcast of the “Little Shop of Horrors” on Friday.

The Little Showcase of Horrors is the Underground Gallery’s first collaboration of 2015 that will feature both musicians and actors.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. with an entry fee of $5. Music will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m., with the Underground Players performing the shadowcast of “Little Shop of Horrors” as the film screens in the background.

Featured musicians and groups include Fidelity Laurel, Down They Fall, The Umbrella Corporation, Grace Bayne-Music Page, A Lovely Crisis, Can’t Help It, and the The Underground Players of Kayleigh Wilkinson, Katie Vossler, Destiny Moniot, Trey Lorenzini, Aria Kriebel, Brittney Bender, Grace Bayne, Andrea Undercuffler, Anna Haag and Morgan Rae.

Attack Theatre to perform

FOXBURG — Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts presents the dance company Attack Theatre performing “Leap into Action,” at 7 p.m. March 26 in the Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School auditorium.

As part of an arts education residency in the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District, a student art exhibit is planned for April 11 to 19 at the Red Brick Gallery in Foxburg.

Area girl advances quest

GIBSONIA — Gianna Cafasso of Penn Township won the Audience Choice Award at the Kean Quest competition for entertainers and vocalists at St. Barnabas’ Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road.

Gianna received the award during the Kean Quest Talent Search preliminary youth competition for singers age 18 and younger. She joins 12 semifinalists to compete again Sunday.

Noel Coward play staged

Noel Coward’s “Tonight at 8:30” which consists of three short plays will be staged by the Hobnob Theatre at 8 p.m. April 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11 at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St. Casey Bowser is directing. Tickets are $10. Visit hobnobtheatre.com

Musical club gives concert

CRANBERRY TWP — Tuesday Musical Club will present a free public concert of works by Mozart, Bach and Lussier for string ensemble and woodwinds at 7:15 p.m. April 12 at Sherwood Oaks, 100 Norman Drive.

Paul Critser will direct the 35-member orchestra.

The program will feature the Tuesday Musical Club String Ensemble and seven soloists.

Red Barn sets summer shows

FRANKLIN TWP, Beaver County — The Red Barn Players have scheduled four shows for the summer season.

The 61st season will feature:

“Perfect Wedding,” comedy, June 5 and 6, 11 to 13, and 23 to 25

“Moon Over Buffalo,” comedy, July 10 and 11, 16 to 18, and 23 to 25

“The Foursome,” comedy, Aug. 14 and 15, 20 to 22, and 27 to 29

“Jerry’s Girls,” musical, Sept. 18 and 19, 23 to 26, and 30 and Oct. 1 to 3.

Tickets are $12 for plays and $15 for musicals.

Curtain is at 8 p.m. at the theater on Route 288, the Ellwood-Zelienople Road.
